Google is renaming Google My Business to Google Business Profile. This migration of features will bring more of the business profile management out of the Google My Business app and directly into Google Search, Google Maps and those respective apps. Google is looking to simplify things for businesses.
The migration is happening now and businesses have already started to get notified by Google. All features that were previously available in the app are now available in Search and Maps.
Businesses will still have the ability to add and edit business info, photos and virtual tours, as well as track insights on how customers are finding you online.
Google Business Profiles are adding some additional features:
- You can now claim and verify your Google Business Profile directly in Google Search and Google Maps – Awesome!!
- Call History is officially launching in US and Canada
- Messaging can be done directly from Google Search
- Message read receipts can be controlled in Google Search and Maps
